WD98: Word Stops Responding, You Receive Error Message "Opening FileMaker Pro. Please Wait" Message (229831)

This article was previously published under Q229831 SYMPTOMS When you do the following
- Install the Office 98/FileMaker Pro Importer.
- Open FileMaker Pro to the New Database dialog box.
- Try to start a mail merge in Word 98 from a FileMaker Pro
database.
you receive the following message, and Word 98 stops responding
(hangs): Opening FileMaker Pro. Please Wait...
At this point, you must use the Force Quit option to quit Word and regain control of your Macintosh.
CAUSE This message only appears if FileMaker Pro is open to the New Database dialog box when you start a mail merge in Word 98.
RESOLUTION To resolve this problem, do not open FileMaker Pro before
you click the Mail Merge from FileMaker command on the
Tools menu in Word 98.
If the message in the
"Symptoms" section of this article is on your screen, press COMMAND+OPTION+ESC,
and then click the Force Quit button, to force the programs to
quit. STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed
that this is a problem in the Office 98/FileMaker Pro Importer.
