Service Pack Appears to Extract Font Files Only (229804)

SYMPTOMS

When you extract one of the following files from the Windows NT Service Pack 4 CD-ROM, or from the Internet, it may appear that the only file extracted are font files:

Sp4alpha.exe
Sp4i386.exe
Sp5alpha.exe
Sp5i386.exe

CAUSE

This issue can occur for any of the following reasons:

You are viewing the files over a network connection.
You used the /X command line switch to extract one of the files listed in the Symptoms section of this article.

RESOLUTION

Windows NT Server or Workstation 4.0

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was first corrected in Windows NT Server version 4.0, Terminal Server Edition Service Pack 6.
