IMAP4 Service Allows an IMAP User to Create an Unlimited Number of Folders (229520)

The IMAP4 service allows a user to create an unlimited number of folders even if
a mailbox quota has been defined for the user. A user can create many
directories and consume an excessive amount of disk space on the file server.
RESOLUTION
A supported fix that corrects this problem is now available from Microsoft, but it has not been fully regression tested and should be applied only to systems experiencing this specific problem.
