SYMPTOMS

WARNING:This information is preliminary and has not been confirmed or tested by Microsoft. Use only with discretion. When the Office Assistant appears with a message over a TV window from the Hauppauge WinTV Radio Card, your computer may stop responding.

CAUSE

The problem occurs when the following conditions are all true:
  • You have a Hauppauge WinTV Radio Card installed and configured to show FullScreen TV mode in its own fixed resolution.
  • The TV application is started.
  • The Office Assistant is displayed (not hidden) in Microsoft Office programs.
  • The Office Assistant appears for some reason (for example, to display an appointment reminder in Microsoft Outlook).

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, try one of the following:
  • Right-click on the Office Assistant and click Hide, so that the Office Assistant is not displayed with the reminder.
  • Change the Hauppauge WinTV Radio Card to Window TV mode instead of FullScreen TV mode.
  • Change the Hauppauge WinTV Radio Card to No Resolution Change instead of FullScreen TV mode.
