ACC2000: Cannot Use Access Client-Server Tools After Installation of Microsoft Data Engine (225989)

SYMPTOMS
After you install the Microsoft Data Engine (MSDE) on a computer running Microsoft Access 2000, you are unable to use the following menu commands in a Microsoft Access project:

Database Security
-
Synchronize Now
-
Create Publication
-
Pull Subscription
-
Push Subscription
-
Subscription Properties
-
Publisher Properties
-
Resolve Conflicts
When you try to use any of these commands, you receive one or both of the following error messages:
1157 - (One of the library files needed to run this application cannot be found.)
Connection to application object failed. Ensure that no program modules have been deleted.
CAUSE
After you install the MSDE, you are not prompted to restart Windows, even though restarting Windows is required to complete the installation.
RESOLUTION
Restart your computer.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
