SYMPTOMS

When you use QuickShelf 98 to look up the definition for a word you select on the desktop, you may experience a long delay before QuickShelf displays the definition for the word.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if both of the following conditions are true:
  • You are using QuickShelf 98 on a Macintosh computer running Mac OS System 8.0 or later.

  • The version of QuickShelf installed on your computer is not fully compatible with Mac OS System 8.0 or later.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, download and install the new QuickShelf control panel from the Microsoft Download Center.

To install the new QuickShelf control panel, follow these steps:

  1. On the desktop, double-click your hard disk.
  2. Open the folder to which you downloaded the Bs_qs.bin file.
  3. Drag the QuickShelf file and drop it on the System Folder in the hard disk window.
  4. Click Yes, and then click Yes again.
