OL2000: (CW) Searching for <First Last> Doesn't Find Contact (222299)

SYMPTOMS

If you use the Find a Contact box in Quick Find, to find a contact using only the first and last name, your search results may not find an existing contact.

CAUSE

This problem occurs under the following circumstances:
  • You are using Outlook Corporate or Workgroup (CW).
  • For the contact you are trying to fine, the Full Name field contains a middle name or initial.
  • The contact does not contain an e-mail address or fax number.

RESOLUTION

You can work around this behavior by either searching on the full name, or by including an e-mail address or fax number in the contact's information, even if the information is incorrect.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

This problem does not occur using Outlook with the Internet Mail Only (IMO) or Personal Information Manager (PIM) set up options.
