This article was previously published under Q222059 SUMMARY
Windows 2000 Gateway Services for NetWare (GSNW) and Client Services for NetWare (CSNW) do not support Novell NetWare 5 Internet Protocol (IP).
MORE INFORMATION
Both GSNW and CNSW require the IPX protocol for connectivity to NetWare networks because until recently, the IPX protocol was necessary for connectivity to NetWare resources. NetWare 5 provides support for native IP. GSNW and CSNW were written prior to the release of NetWare 5.
You can obtain IP connectivity between a Windows 2000-based computer and a NetWare 5 server by installing the Novell Client for Windows 2000. For more information, please contact Novell.
