The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft FrontPage 98 for Windows

This article was previously published under Q221941

SYMPTOMS

When you are creating a hyperlink to a URL that contains a space, and you click the "Use your Web Browser to select a page or file" button and use Internet Explorer as your browser, the space in the URL is filled in by a %20. When you view the HTML code for the link in FrontPage, the %20 has been encoded and is changed to %2520. The link is therefore incorrect and broken.

RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, do one of the following:

Manually edit the hyperlink and replace the %2520 with a space.

-or-Avoid using directories or filenames that contain spaces.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Microsoft FrontPage 2000.
