FP2000: Changes to Hyperlink Properties for Navigation Bar Are Lost (219948)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft FrontPage 2000

This article was previously published under Q219948

SYMPTOMS

If you edit the hyperlink properties of a navigation bar to point to a different URL, when you preview your page in a Web browser, the hyperlink still points to the original page (as also shown in Navigation view).

CAUSE

Navigation bars list the Hyperlink Properties command when you right-click them; however, navigation bars are not designed to contain a target URL other than the one in Navigation view.

RESOLUTION

If you want to use a target URL for a navigation bar that is outside of your FrontPage web (for example, http://www.microsoft.com), follow these steps:
  1. In Navigation view, right-click the page on which you want to add the external link, and click External Link.
  2. In the URL box, type http://www.microsoft.com, and click OK.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
