FP2000: Find, Replace, and Spelling Commands Do Not Work in Folder List (219917)

SYMPTOMS

When you try to use the Find, Replace, and Spelling commands on a single file by using the Folder List, you may experience the following symptoms:
  • The Find Next, Replace, and Replace All buttons do not work.

    -and-
  • The Spelling command is unavailable on the Tools menu.

RESOLUTION

To use these commands, do one of the following:

Find:
Switch to Folders view. Use the Find command on the Edit menu, and click All pages under Find where to find a specific piece of text in all pages of your web.

Replace:
To use the Replace command on the Edit menu, open the page that you want in Page view.

Replace at web level:
Switch to Folders view. Use the Replace command on the Edit menu, and click All pages under Find where. You can type the string that you need to replace in the Find what box. In the Replace with box, type the piece of text you want to replace the previous string with, and then click Find In Web. Double-click any page on the search result list to open it. After the page is open, click Replace all.

Spelling:
  • Use the Spelling command on pages that are open in Page view. To use it, open the page, and click Spelling on the Tools menu.
  • Switch to Folders view. Use the Spelling command on the Tools menu. You can click Entire web or Selected page(s) in the Spelling dialog box. Click Start. Double-click any page on the search result list to open it. After the page is open, you can click Change All.
