FP2000: Link to Web Site That Is Published to FTP Server Does Not Display Actual Web Site (219663)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft FrontPage 2000

This article was previously published under Q219663

SYMPTOMS

When you publish your Web page to an FTP server, you are prompted with the following dialog box:

Web Site Published Successfully!
Click here to view your published web site.

After you click the link to view the published Web site, what appears is the address that the Web site is published to. This is not always the actual Web site.

CAUSE

An FTP address is often not the same address that you would use to browse to the Web site. FrontPage takes the value entered in the publish destination and creates a hyperlink to it to view the published Web site.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, type the address of the Web site into the browser.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
