"/m" Setup Switch Does Not Perform Minimal or Custom Installation (218776)

SYMPTOMS

Using the /m switch with Ie5setup.exe to specify the install mode does not set the default installation mode to the "Install Minimal, or customize your browser" option in Active Setup.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

The command line to specify the installation mode is

ie5setup.exe /c:"ie5wzd /m:n"

where n is 0, 1, or 2:
  • m:0 is Minimal
  • m:1 is Typical
  • m:2 is Full
