Your automatic dial-up connection to an Internet Mail account always hangs up after completing the transaction. This is true even if you have not chosen the option to disconnect after sending, receiving and updating.
CAUSE
This behavior is by design. Background dialing always hangs up when the activity is completed.
RESOLUTION
For a dial-up connection to remain persistent, you must manually initiate it.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article. MORE INFORMATION
The option to remain connected after completing a dial-up session is designed for manually initiated connections only. If you have a dial-up connection set to automatically dial in the background every few minutes, it will always disconnect after the activity is completed.
