PUB2000: Personal Information Lost from Publication (218735)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Publisher 2000
- Microsoft Publisher 98
This article was previously published under Q218735 SYMPTOMS
When you edit a publication in Microsoft Publisher 98 that was created in Publisher 2000 and saved as a Publisher 98 publication, the Personal Information may be lost or change unexpectedly when it is edited.
In Publisher 98, if you click Personal Information inside the Wizard frame, and change any information in the Which personal information set would you like to use in this publication? option, the personal information that was stored with the Publisher 2000 publication will be discarded. It will be replaced with the corresponding Publisher 98 data.
CAUSE
Publisher 98 keeps track of personal information differently than Publisher 2000. If you change personal information while in Publisher 98, it will use the personal information data stored with Publisher 98, and discard the personal information saved by Publisher 2000.
RESOLUTION
Do not alter the Personal Information set using the Wizard unless you want to discard the Publisher 2000 personal information. You may retain the Publisher 2000 personal information by keeping a backup copy of the file, or recreating the personal information inside Publisher 98.
For more information about How to change information within a personal information set, click Microsoft Publisher Help on the Help menu, type changing Personal information sets in Publisher 98 in the Office Assistant or the Answer Wizard, and then click Search to view the topic.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
