This article was previously published under Q218732 SYMPTOMS
When you use Microsoft Publisher 2002 to create a document that contains a text box, portions of some characters in the text box may not be fully displayed on your screen. However, the hidden portions are displayed fully in Print Preview and when printed.
CAUSE
When you resize a text box, certain characters may appear to be cut off or cropped, depending on the size and style of the font, and on the combination of video and printer drivers that are used to display the publication on the screen.
This behavior does not crop the printed text. When you click Print Preview on the File menu, or print your document, the text is printed in its entirety even though it may appear cropped on the screen.
WORKAROUND
If you are intending to crop the text to achieve a particular effect, you must first convert the text into a picture that you can crop. To convert text into a picture, follow these steps:
- Start Publisher.
- Click the Text Box tool on the Objects toolbar.
- Create a text box and type your text.
- On the Edit menu, click Copy.
- On the Edit menu, click Paste Special.
- In the Paste Special dialog box, select a graphic format (TIFF, GIF, and so on), and then click OK.
- Click the Crop tool on the Drawing toolbar.
- Crop the text to achieve the effect that you want.
- Delete the text box.
- On the File menu, click Print Preview.
