The information in this article applies to:
This article was previously published under Q218713 SYMPTOMS
When you are creating a Microsoft Publisher document, and you attempt to use the Clip Gallery, the following error message may appear:
Publisher can't display clip art.
This feature is not available. To make this feature available, please run Setup again, select "Add or Remove Features" and change the feature to "Run from My Computer" or "Run from CD/network".
When you click OK, Clip Gallery starts.
CAUSE
This error message appears if you have installed the Clip Gallery with CD 1 during Office 2000 installation, but you selected Not Available for the Clip Gallery on CD 2.
This error message appears because the Publisher feature table does not reflect that the Clip Gallery has been installed, when in fact it was installed with CD 1. Because the Clip Gallery is actually installed, the error message is ignored and the Clip Gallery opens.
RESOLUTION
To resolve this problem, use either of the following methods.
Method 1
If you do not want to install the Clip Gallery, perform a customized installation of both CDs and then make the Clip Gallery unavailable on both CDs.
To perform a customized installation and make Clip Gallery unavailable, follow these steps:
- Insert CD 1. If Setup does not start, on the Start menu, click Run, and then browse to find Setup.exe and then click OK.
- Click Add or Remove Features.
- Expand Office Tools by clicking the plus sign next to it.
- Click the Clip Gallery icon and then click Not Available.
- Click Update Now to complete Setup.
- Repeat steps 1 through 5 with CD 2.
Method 2
If you do want to use the Clip Gallery, insert CD 2, and either perform a typical installation, or ensure that the Clip Gallery is installed or available on the CD with a customized installation.
To ensure that Clip Gallery is available, follow these steps:
- Insert CD 2. If Setup does not start, on the Start menu, click Run, and browse to find Setup.exe and then click OK.
- Click Add or Remove Features.
- Expand Office Tools by clicking the plus sign next to it.
- Click the Clip Gallery icon and then click Run from My Computer.
- Click Update Now to complete Setup.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Publisher 2000.
