PUB2000: User Preferences Are Overwritten Each Time That Terminal Server Starts (218677)

If you install Publisher 2000 over a previous version of Publisher, individual user preferences from the previous version of Publisher are maintained. If you then make changes to those preferences, your changes may not be saved. Each time that you restart the computer, Publisher reverts to the previous preferences; Publisher overwrites any changes.
CAUSE
This behavior may occur if the following conditions are true:
- Publisher 2000 is installed on a Microsoft Terminal Server-based computer that has a previous version of Publisher installed it.
-and- - The previous version of Publisher has not been removed.
-and- - The system security settings do not allow you to make permanent changes to your user preferences.
WORKAROUND
To work around this problem, use one of the following methods.
Method 1
Remove the older version of Publisher from the Terminal Server.
Method 2
Have the administrator run Publisher one time after the computer is restarted.

The individual user preferences include, but are not limited to, the commands on the Publisher menus that you can select (such as Rulers on the View menu); and commands that are on or off (such as Hide the Office Assistant and Show the Office Assistant on the Help menu).
