PUB2000: Background Images Don't Print on All Pages of Greeting Card (218662)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Publisher 2000

This article was previously published under Q218662

SYMPTOMS

When you print publications that contain folds, such as greeting cards, or tent cards, the background page items only print on the first and last pages.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when you print while you are in Two-Page Spread view, and you only have a single background page.

WORKAROUND

To workaround this problem, use one of the following methods.

Method 1: Print from Single Page View.

To print from Single Page view, follow these steps:
  1. On the View menu, click Two-Page Spread.
  2. Print your publication.
NOTE: This method works well as long as you do not have any objects that extend across facing pages. If you have extra-wide pictures or text frames that extend from page two to page three, use Method 2.

Method 2: Create Dual Background Pages

To create dual background pages, follow these steps:
  1. On the Arrange menu, click Layout Guides.
  2. Click to select the "Create Two Backgrounds With Mirrored Guides" check box, and click OK.
  3. On the View menu, click Go to Background (You should now have both a left and right background page button in the bottom left of the Publisher window).
  4. If you are in Single Page view, on the View menu click Two-Page Spread. Both background pages should now be visible. They have the same objects on them, but their placement is reversed.
  5. If you want to, drag the items on one or both background pages until they are in the same relative spot.
  6. On the View menu, click Go to Foreground (or press Ctrl+M on your keyboard again.)

STATUS
