The information in this article applies to:
This article was previously published under Q218638 SYMPTOMS
When you create a document in Microsoft Publisher 2000 that contains
symbols as well as text, any word that contains a symbol is marked as
misspelled even if you click Ignore All when you use the spelling
checker to check the spelling of the document.
NOTE: This behavior may not occur when you format the document
in a language other than English.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur because Publisher 2000 does not interpret all
symbols correctly.
RESOLUTION
To work around this issue:
- Highlight to select the word that is marked as misspelled.
- On the Tools menu, point to Language, and then
click Set Language.
- In the Language box, click (no
proofing), and then click OK.
NOTE: The spelling checker does not check the spelling of words
that you designate for no proofing.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Publisher 2000. MORE INFORMATION
If the symbol that you include in a word is a quotation mark, the spelling
checker works properly.
REFERENCESFor more information about how to use the spelling checker, click Microsoft Publisher Help on the Help menu, type check a publication for misspellings in the Office Assistant or the Answer Wizard, and then click Search to view the topic.
