OL2000: Hiding Journal Tab Still Displays Activities Tab in Contacts Form (218598)

SYMPTOMS

If you design a custom Contact form using Outlook 98 and chose to hide the Journal tab (page), when the form is viewed in Outlook 2000, the form still displays an Activites page.

CAUSE

The Activities page in Outlook 2000 is a different page than the Journal page used in Outlook 98.

RESOLUTION

Redesign the form in Outlook 2000 and hide the Activities page.

The Activities page in the Contact form took the place of the Journal page in the pre-Outlook 2000 custom contact form and performs similar functions. However, the pages are very different with added functionality in the Activities page. During migration from Outlook 98 to Outlook 2000, the hidden property of the Journal page will not migrate to the new Activites page.

To make the Activities page invisible, you must open the Contact form in design mode and hide the Activities page as you did with the Journal page. To hide the Activites page in your custom Contact form use the following steps:
  1. Open the custom Contact form, and on the Tools menu, point to Forms, and then click Design this Form.
  2. Click to select the Activities page.
  3. On the Form menu, click to turn off Display this Page (the command is not checked).
  4. On the Tools menu, click Publish Form.
  5. Close the form. It is not necessary to save the form, if prompted to do so.
