PPT2000: Underline of Animated Underlined Words Is Too Big (218549)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft PowerPoint 2000
This article was previously published under Q218549 SYMPTOMS
When you apply an animation to an underlined word, such as the crawl animation, the underline may appear too big for the letters of the underlined word.
CAUSE
PowerPoint renders underlines to the screen separately, not together with the text. Therefore the portion of the underline animated with each character might appear to be larger than the character.
WORKAROUND
When you have underlined text, use an animation that renders quickly. By doing so, the animation will move too quickly for you to notice the underlines are larger than the individual characters. Specifically, use the following animations when you have underlined text:
- Fly
- Appear
- Blinds
- Box
- Checkerboard
- Dissolve
- Flash Once
- Peek
- Random Bars
- Split
- Stretch
- Strips
- Wipe
- Zoom
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
