PPT2000: Reapplying Slide Layout May Distort Objects Contained Within Placeholders (218538)
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft PowerPoint 2000
This article was previously published under Q218538 SYMPTOMS
When you reapply a design template by clicking Reapply in the Slide Layout dialog box, some objects change size or become distorted. Specifically, organization charts, clip art, charts, and any other objects inserted into an object placeholder are affected.
CAUSE
When you reapply a design template (on the Format menu, click Slide Layout, and then click Reapply), PowerPoint resets object placeholders to their original dimensions, regardless of the dimensions of the objects placed inside them. Depending upon the difference between the height-to-width ratio of the original object and the newly inserted object, the newly inserted object may appear quite distorted.
WORKAROUND
If you select a chart or insert clip art with a height-to-width ratio that is significantly different from the height-to-width ratio of the default blank placeholder, you should avoid modifying your slide; that is, do not click Reapply in the Slide Layout dialog box.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft PowerPoint 2000.
