SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to create an entry in the Personal Address Book (PAB) to address mail to a public folder on a Microsoft Exchange Server, the address is added to your Contacts folder.

This behavior is by design in Outlook. The default location for addresses of this type is the Outlook Address Book or Contacts folder.

RESOLUTION

Set the default location for personal addresses to the PAB.

MORE INFORMATION

To set the location for personal addresses to add the public folder address to the PAB, follow these steps:
  1. On the Tools menu, click Services, and then click the Addressing tab.
  2. In the Keep personal addresses in list, click to select Personal Address Book. Click OK.
  3. Select a public folder to which you have permissions. Right-click the folder and then click Properties.
  4. On the Administration tab, click Add to Personal Address Book.
NOTE: You can reverse this process to use contacts for other address types.
