If you have the Corporate or Workgroup installation, you see "Corporate or Workgroup".

SYMPTOMS

The Offline Address Book (OAB) is no longer available after upgrading to Outlook 2000 from Microsoft Office 97 SR-2.

MORE INFORMATION

After you upgrade to Office or Outlook 2000, the OAB that was previously download will not be available. In earlier versions, items of this type were stored in the Windows directory. A design change in Office 2000 relocated the stored path to the user's Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook directory. For example, the complete path might look like this:

C:\Windows\<Profiles\username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook

NOTE: If user profiles are not enabled on the system, the path element <Profiles\username> will not appear. A similar path will appear on a Windows NT 4.0 system.

There are two methods to regain the OAB:

Method I

Download a New Copy of the OAB

To download a new copy of the OAB, follow these steps:
  1. On the Tools menu, click Synchronize and then click Download Offline Address Book.
  2. Accept the default settings, and then click OK.
The new copy will be placed in the user subdirectory.

Method II

Move the Existing OAB to the User Directory

To move the existing OAB, follow these steps:
  1. On the Start menu, click Find and then click Files and Folders.
  2. In the Named field, type *.oab. Click to place a check mark at Include Subfolders. Ensure that the local hard drive is selected in the Look In list and then click Find Now.
  3. Copy the OAB file to the appropriate user path as detailed above. The OAB will be available when Outlook is restarted.
