OL2000: Unable to Use Eudora Pro to Send Office Documents (218302)

SYMPTOMS

After installing Microsoft Office 2000 with Outlook, you find that you can no longer use Eudora Pro to send Office documents, such as Microsoft Word documents or Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, to Internet recipients.

CAUSE

Eudora Pro is not successfully registered as the simple Messaging Applications Programming Interface (MAPI) client.

RESOLUTION

Use Microsoft Internet Explorer Internet Options to set Eudora as the default e-mail program.

To set Eudora as the default e-mail program, follow these steps:
  1. Start Internet Explorer 5.0. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options and then click Programs. If you are using Internet Explorer 4.0, the Internet Options menu item is on the View menu.
  2. In the E-mail list, click to select Eudora Pro.
  3. Click OK, and on the File menu, click Close.
  4. Restart your computer for the changes to take effect.
NOTE: This error may occur with Eudora Pro 3.x and 4.x when the MAPI setting in Eudora is set to either When Eudora is Running, or Always.
