How to Permit Additional Users to Administer the Exchange Server (218045)

To permit additional users to administer the Exchange Server, use either of the following methods:

Method 1

1. Logon using the Administrator account.
2. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Exchange, and then click Microsoft Exchange Administrator.
3. Click the Exchange site (the bolded name) in the middle of the Exchange hierarchy (the left pane) in the Administrator program, and then click Properties on the File menu.
4. Click the Permissions tab, and then add the appropriate user account or group with at least "administrator" permissions. Repeat this process for the Configuration container in the Exchange hierarchy.
5. Using User Manager for Domains, grant this user the right to "Log On Locally" under "Policies" "User Rights".

Method 2

Grant the appropriate user full access to the server by using the SBS Console.

NOTE: In the SBS Console under "Tasks" "Manage Users", you can use the Manage User Permissions wizard to grant full Administrative Access to the user you want to administer the Exchange Server. Note that this places this uses in the Domain Administrator group and not only gives permissions to logon to the server, but also gives permissions to do anything else your Administrator account can do.
