When you are connected to a secure Internet site with 128-bit encryption installed, hovering your mouse pointer over the Lock icon may show 40-bit encryption.
CAUSE
This problem occurs because the Lock icon obtains the security information from elements on the Web page, not from the actual connection.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
