SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Excel, when you select a range of cells and then apply the value and the formatting of one cell to the range of cells by pressing CTRL+ENTER, the value is entered as expected, but the formatting results may vary, depending on which cell applies the formatting.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur because the process for applying the format of a single cell to a range of cells does not function as expected.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, format your intended range of cells by using the Cells command on the Format menu.
