SBS Fax Fails When Printing Directly to Printer (215371)

SYMPTOMS

Any fax will fail to send when a cover page is selected. The following error message is displayed:
Could not send cover page to modem name
When you open the properties of the fax print queue from the printers folder, you see that the Print Directly to Printer radio button is selected under the Scheduling tab of the printer properties.

CAUSE

This problem occurs because the Windows NT printing subsystem cannot print directly to the fax modem. It can only print to the spooler, which then spools to the faxing subsystem.

RESOLUTION

To work around this problem, select one of the spooling options for all fax print queues.
