Homepub: Cannot Open Project Screens or Startup Screen Is Empty (214481)

When you start one of the programs listed at the beginning of this article, you may experience one of the following symptoms:
- When you click Paper Projects, E-mail Projects, Occasions, or Blank Projects, the right side of the startup screen may continue to display the Introduction page.
- When you start the program, the right side of the startup screen may be empty until you click Introduction.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if Microsoft ActiveMovie is not properly installed.
Greetings 99 and Home Publishing 99 use ActiveMovie to play embedded
video clips. The following project screens contain embedded video clips:
- Paper Projects
- E-mail Projects
- Occasions
- Blank Projects
RESOLUTION
To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
- Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
- Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
- On the Install/Uninstall tab, click Microsoft Media
Player 5.2 (if it appears in the list of installed programs), click Add/Remove, and then follow the instructions on the screen to
remove the program.
Note: If Microsoft Media Player 5.2 does not appear in the list of installed programs, proceed to step 5. - Click Close, and then close Control Panel.
- Click Start, point to Find, and then click Files Or Folders.
- In the Named box, type amovie.ocx quartz.dll, and then click Find Now.
- In the list of found files, right-click the Amovie.ocx file, and then click Rename.
- Type amovie.old, and then press ENTER.
- In the list of found files, right-click the Quartz.dll file, and then click Rename.
- Type Quartz.old, and then press ENTER.
- Download and install Microsoft Windows Media Player 6.0. To do this, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/downloads/
Click the appropriate link for your version of Windows, and then follow
the instructions on the screen to download and install the program.
