WD2000: Cannot Merge Document Containing a Text Box or Drawing Object (214217)

When you attempt to merge a document (on the Tools menu, click Merge Documents) that contains a text box or drawing object, the following error message is displayed and the contents of the document are not merged:
The merged documents contain unmarked changes. Do you want to merge up to the first untracked change?
CAUSE
The Merge Documents feature only recognizes text in the text layer of a document. When Word detects a text box or drawing object when it is merging the document, Word recognizes the text box or drawing object as a tracked change and does not correctly merge the document.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
