SYMPTOMS

The Default activities view of a folder's properties does not write to the specified folder.

CAUSE

The Default activities view is designed to search but not write to the specified folder.

RESOLUTION

You must manually move the activity to the desired folder. On the File menu of the item you want to move, click Move to Folder and then click to select the correct folder. Do not click Save and Close.

MORE INFORMATION

After you have created Contacts and Journal folders in a public folder, you can link activities between these folders. The link can only read the specified folder it cannot write to it.

For example, if you open a contact that is stored in the public folder and you have created a view that links the Contact folder to a Journal folder also in the public folder, the activity of creating a new journal entry will be recorded in your default Journal and not the Journal in the public folder that was specified in the Default activities view.
