It takes one argument and returns either True, if it is an array, or False if it is not an array. The IsArray function is useful when you call a function that is supposed to return an array; you can use IsArray function in a manner similar to the following sample code to verify that the value returned is an array.

1. Start Microsoft Excel.
2. Press ALT+F11 to start the Microsoft Visual Basic editor.
3. On the Insert menu, click Module.
4. Type the following code in the module sheet:

   Sub IsArrayExample()
   
       Dim DataArray(2) As Integer        ' Declare an array.
       Dim ArrayBoolean As Boolean        ' Declare a Boolean variable.
       ArrayBoolean = IsArray(DataArray)  ' Check if DataArray is an
                                                ' array.
       If ArrayBoolean = True Then
           MsgBox "DataArray is an Array."
       End If
   
   End Sub
   						

5. Press ALT+F11 to return to Excel.
6. On the Tools menu, point to Macro, and then click Macros.
7. Click IsArrayExample and then click Run.
   
   The following message appears:

   DataArray is an Array

8. Click OK to close the message box.
