This article was previously published under Q212005

SYMPTOMS

The Add to List button in the Find dialog box appears dimmed when you use a numeric, date, or time property, and specify a condition between two values, dates, or times.

WORKAROUND

When you specify a criteria that falls between two values, use the word "and" to separate the two values, dates, or times.

For example, to find all files created between August 1, 1999 and August 15, 1999, follow these steps:
  1. In Microsoft Excel 2000, click Open on the File menu.
  2. Navigate to a folder that has several .xls files.
  3. Click Tools, and then click Find.
  4. Click Creation date in the Property list.
  5. Click anytime between in the Condition list.
  6. Type 8/1/99 in the Value box.

Notice that the Add to List button still appears dimmed.
  7. Modify the text in the Value box to read 8/1/99 and 8/15/99.
The Add to List button is now available.
