WD2000: CAPI and WLL Support Policy (211711)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Word 2000

This article was previously published under Q211711

SUMMARY

As an alternative to automation using COM (Component Object Model), you can use the CAPI Messaging Interface (CMI) to control Microsoft Word. CMI uses the same structures and functions as a Microsoft Word DLL add-in (WLL), but allows cross-process and asynchronous calls.

A WLL is an add-in for Microsoft Word that you can build with any compiler that supports building DLLs (dynamic link libraries).

MORE INFORMATION

CAPI and the creation of WLLs are only supported through the Advisory Services Consulting Line. The Advisory Services Consulting Line can be reached at (800) 936-5800. Support is given on a callback basis.

For more information about submitting a Web-submitted incident, please browse to the following Microsoft Web site: Questions about CAPI and WLLs can also be posted to the Microsoft Internet Newsgroups at http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx. These newsgroups are public forums and not directly supported by Microsoft.
