SYMPTOMS

When you install Windows 98, you may not have a pointer until after Microsoft Windows Setup restarts your computer for the first time. You may be required to use your keyboard to enter Setup information until Windows Setup restarts your computer.

CAUSE

This issue can occur if you install Windows on an empty hard disk. The Logitech Trackman (3 button trackball) is not recognized before Setup restarts.
