When you run the Add New Hardware Wizard, your pointer may stop responding, and your computer may appear to stop responding (hang).
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if you run the Add New Hardware wizard and a Lucent WinModem is installed in your computer. When the wizard queries your computer hardware during the detection process, your pointer may temporarily stop responding, possibly appearing as if your computer also stopped responding.
STATUS
This behavior is by design.
MORE INFORMATION
Although your pointer may stop responding for an unusually long amount of time, it is not unusual for the hardware wizard to temporarily lock devices during the querying process.
