The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.01 for Windows NT 4.0
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 for Windows NT 4.0
This article was previously published under Q205521 SYMPTOMS
After you configure Internet Explorer to use a mixture of shared cache and personal cache on a Windows NT 4.0-based computer that is used by multiple users, some users may be unable to view their cached Web pages. When this occurs, it may cause delays when the user tries to view Internet sites.
CAUSE
This problem can occur under either of the following conditions:
- When you move from a shared cache to a personal cache, the old shared cache is deleted, potentially deleting your personal off-line Web pages.
- When you move from a personal cache to a shared cache, different randomized folders may be maintained, but the shared cache's earlier index file is overwritten.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
