ACC2000: Error Adding a List Box or Dropdown List to a Page (203986)

SYMPTOMS
When you try to add a list box or drop-down list box to a data access page, you may receive the following error:
The Wizard will only run when your current database is the datasource for your page.
CAUSE
This behavior may occur when the following conditions are true:
- You try to add a control while the Control Wizards is enabled.
-and-
- You use different types of connection when you create and open the database. For example, you create the database by using a UNC path (\\<servername>\<sharename>\Db1.mdb), but you open the database by using a mapped drive (F:\Db1.mdb).
RESOLUTION
To correct this problem, follow these steps: - If the field list is not visible, on the View menu, click Field List. In the field list, click the Database tab.
- Right-click the database icon. On the shortcut menu, click Connection.
- In the Select or enter a database name box, type the full path that you used when you opened the database. For example, type F:\Db1.mdb.
NOTE: If you are entering a drive letter, you must use the same drive letter that you used to open the database. - Type the user name and password, and then click OK.
STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
