WD2000: Underline Lost When Text Formatted with Strikethrough Is Saved As Web Page (203889)

The information in this article applies to:

  • Microsoft Word 2000

This article was previously published under Q203889

SYMPTOMS

If you format underlined text as strikethrough and then save as a Web page, the underline is lost. This problem occurs in the following two cases:

Case 1: Underlined Text

If you format text in your document as underlined and strikethrough, and save your document as a Web page, the text underline is lost when you reopen your Web page.

Case 2: Underlined Paragraph Number

If you format numbering in a Word document to include underline and strikethrough, when you save (and reopen) the document as a Web page, the underline for the paragraph numbers is lost when you reopen your Web page.

WORKAROUND

There is no workaround for Case 2 listed in the "Symptoms" section of this article. For Case 1, you can reapply the underline to the strikethrough text of your Web page document.

To reapply the text underline, use the following steps:

  1. Select the strikethrough text that should be underlined.
  2. On the Format menu, click Font.
  3. On the Font tab, change the Underline style box to the underline style you want, and then click OK.
After you save your changes and close and reopen your Web page, the strikethrough text will also be underlined.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
