This article was previously published under Q203721 SYMPTOMS When you connect the Microsoft keyboard to a laptop computer, the keyboard may not be detected.CAUSEThis issue may occur if you connect the keyboard to the PS/2 port on the laptop computer.RESOLUTIONTo resolve this issue, use one of the following methods: - Use a PS/2-to-PS/2 adapter with internal resistors to connect the keyboard to the PS/2 port on the laptop computer.
- Connect the keyboard to the USB port on the laptop computer.
MORE INFORMATION This issue occurs because the laptop computer provides power to the keyboard before the keyboard detects the PS/2 port connection. Because the keyboard does not detect the PS/2 port connection, it operates in Universal Serial Bus (USB) mode.
