SYMPTOMS

When you create a shortcut for Inbox programs, the Start In setting for the shortcut is ignored and redirected to the My Documents folder.

CAUSE

Windows 2000 moves users to the My Documents folder to prevent them from saving files to various locations.

RESOLUTION

To work around this behavior, create a file and place it in the location that is referenced in the Start In setting that is associated with the program referenced in the shortcut.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.

MORE INFORMATION

The My Documents folder creates a common storage location for all documents you create so you can find them easily. In addition, this folder provides remote document management for network administrators.
