This article was previously published under Q201443

SYMPTOMS

When you select Web Settings from the Tools menu in FrontPage, the IP address of the Web Server is not listed.

CAUSE

Newer versions of FrontPage have not yet been configured to display this information when Internet Explorer version 5.0 is installed on the same computer as FrontPage 2000.

RESOLUTION

To find out the IP address of the Web that you are managing with FrontPage, you can consult your Internet Service Provider or Internet/Intranet Administrator.

You can alternatively use existing TCP/IP utilities such as Ping or Tracert.

For example:

To find out the IP address for an Internet site, do the following from a command prompt (when connected to the Internet):

Ping www.microsoft.com

To find out the IP address for an intranet site, do the following (when connected to the network) from a DOS prompt:

Ping SERVERNAME where SERVERNAME is the name of the server for the IP you are trying to locate.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the FrontPage 2000 Server Extensions.
