SYMPTOMS

When you view the files listed on the DirectX Files tab in the Microsoft DirectX Diagnostic tool (Dxdiag.exe), files may be listed as "old" or as Beta versions.

CAUSE

This issue can occur after you install the DirectPlay 6.0a Update, or install a game or program that installs the DirectPlay 6.0a Update. The Dxdiag.exe tool is not able to correctly identify the files included with the DirectPlay 6.0a Update as being current files, or non-Beta files.
