OL2000: (IMO) Fax Not in Inbox If Outlook Is Exited During Transmission (197543)

SYMPTOMS

Incoming faxes are not automatically moved to the Inbox.

CAUSE

You closed Outlook before the fax transmission was completed.

RESOLUTION

Do not close Outlook until the fax transmission is completed and the fax has been posted to the Inbox.

If a fax is incoming when you shut down Outlook, the fax process will continue to run until the fax has been completely received. Faxes are temporarily stored in the Data folder beneath the Office folder. Because Outlook is not running when the fax is received, the fax process cannot move the fax from temporary storage to the Outlook Inbox.

To move the fax from the temporary storage to the Outlook Inbox, follow these steps:

On the Tools menu, point to Send And Receive and click Symantec Fax Starter Edition.

This forces the fax to be posted to the Inbox.
