OL2000: How to Disable Annotation Marks in Replies and Forwards (196802)

SYMPTOMS

An annotation mark is added to the beginning of each insertion in a reply or forwarded e-mail message. This mark usually consists of the author's name or initials enclosed within brackets.

CAUSE

This is an editing option in Microsoft Outlook.

RESOLUTION

To turn off the annotation feature, follow these steps:

  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. On the Preferences tab, click E-mail Options.
  3. Click to clear the "Mark my comments with" check box. Click OK, and then click OK to close the Options dialog box.
