TC1000: Controller Stops Responding When You Test Infrared Codes (196053)

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to add a device to the Take Control System Controller (TC1000), the controller may stop responding (hang) during the infrared code test.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you use the infrared codes from the built-in database to add any of the following devices to the TC1000:

  • Goldstar TV
  • KMC TV
  • Memorex TV

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, use the learning feature of the Take Control Editor to add infrared codes for the device to the TC1000. To do this, follow these steps:

  1. Locate the original remote control for the device.
  2. Start Take Control Editor.
  3. Under Setup, click Devices.
  4. Click Add New Device.
  5. In the Select The Device Category list, click TV, and then click Continue.
  6. On the Select Brand screen, click Brand Unlisted.
  7. Follow the instructions on the screen to add infrared codes for the device to the TC1000.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Take Control Editor, version 1.0.
