BUG: Windows 95/98 Fails to Connect to other Win 95/98 Registry (193464)

Under Microsoft Windows 95 or Microsoft Windows 98, RegConnectRegistry() fails to connect to a remote Windows 95 or Windows 98 registry after connecting to a remote Windows NT or Windows 2000 registry. The call continues to fail until the process is exited and restarted.
NOTE: Remote registry access is not supported on Windows Millenium Edition.
RESOLUTION
This bug only occurs when using the TCP/IP network protocol alone. To
circumvent this problem, install the IPX/SPX protocol alongside the TCP/IP
protocol.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a bug in the Microsoft products listed
at the beginning of this article. We are researching this bug and will post
new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes
available.
