- Microsoft Digital Sound System 80 1.0
This article was previously published under Q192858 SYMPTOMS
When you click Bypass in the Equalizer Control utility included with the
Microsoft Digital Sound System 80, digital audio may be distorted.
CAUSE
This behavior can occur if you play digital audio over the computer's
Universal Serial Bus (USB).
NOTE: To determine if you are playing digital audio over the USB, use the
Digital Audio Indicator located in the lower-right corner of the Equalizer
Control window.
STATUS
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft Digital
Sound System 80 version 1.0.
MORE INFORMATION
The Bypass setting allows you to disable the Equalizer Control utility.
For example, if you create a sound scheme using the filter band sliders
in the Equalizer Control window, you can click Bypass to play this sound
scheme with the Equalizer Control utility disabled.
This issue does not occur if you play analog audio through a sound card.
The Equalizer Control utility functions only when you play digital audio
over the USB.
